Easy Peasy Tip: Buy Nothing Day!
By tinychoices | November 23, 2007
Welcome to Black Friday: “…the beginning of the traditional Christmas shopping season.”
Did you really read that sentence? It’s not the “Christmas season,” but the “shopping season.”
Christmas Cheer our tiny asses, that sounds like nothing but stress, debt, and unjoy to us.
So here’s our Easy Peasy Tip for the day: don’t go shopping. Spend time with someone you love: friends, family, yourself, and/or your dog. Read a book. Make a pot of tea. Take a long walk, run, swim, and/or nap. Watch a movie. Depending on your hemisphere, walk through some crunchy leaves or snooze in the sun. Make clothing, or a cutlery tote, or a reusable shopping bag… Cook a meal… Do it.
Buy Nothing Day doesn’t necessarily have to be about making a grand political statement– you can just reclaim a day for your own joy, and let the masses battle it out over the shiny gee-gaws at the mall.
How have you choosen to spend your Buy Nothing Day?

Yay for Buy Nothing Day! I’m spending it at home in my jammies, watching movies (borrowed from the library) and eating leftovers. And checking in at Tiny Choices, of course. I can’t believe that people were planning to be at stores at 4 am. Insanity.
Sounds like you had the greatest Buy Nothing Day ever!
Gee, for some of us, today is just another day… I am at work. *sighs*
So not only did you save money by not shopping, but you actually got to earn money on a day when many Americans just upped their debt!
Just tryin’ to see the bright side…
