Easy Peasy Tip: Low Impact Days!

By tinychoices | April 5, 2008

kidsearth.jpgThe biggest impact we can have on the environment is by having no impact on it at all. And while a zero-impact day might be nearly impossible, it’s well within our reach to pick a day each week to have as little impact as we can manage.

So, put it on your calendar– one day each week where you can implement those tiny choices we all know and love, which might sometimes slip past you: eat local and/or organic; eat home-cooked meals; take public transportation instead of driving; take shorter showers; buy nothing new; use natural cleaning products; shut off the lights; turn off your monitor; etc and etc. If you’re short on ideas, well, we’ve got lots of Easy Peasy Tips for you!

And of course, don’t stop doing those things when it’s not a low-impact day–the goal really is to make every day as green as we can. If we’re all tiny choosing then we’re making a not-so-tiny collective impact together!

I’ve been doing this as a way to kind of reclaim Sunday as a day of rest. Staying offline, not shopping, etc. It’s been in some ways a big shift and in other ways, really natural.

This sounds so absolutely lovely. I kind of want to make “Reclaim Sunday” tshirts. It just sounds so peaceful… (obviously I have to work on the “staying offline” bit tho!)
