Easy Peasy Tips: Plant a Tree!

By tinychoices | April 19, 2008

planttree.jpg Not only does next week include Earth Day, but it also holds ARBOR DAY! That’s right, everyone’s favorite “plant a tree” holiday. Karina remembers attending Linden Elementary School in Oak Ridge TN and planting Linden Trees on Arbor Day when she was in first grade! So take advantage of the holiday and plant a tree - not only will you have lifelong memories, but each tree planted helps fight global warming and serves as an important habitat for animals as well as providing erosion control. Trees also help mitigate heat-island effect in urban areas, making our cities cooler and healthier in the summer.

I love planting trees ! What’s super fun is growing apple trees from seeds of yummy organic apples you ate from the store/market. Just stick them in a cup of dirt and wait a few weeks for it to grow :) . Then you can go out and find a spot to plant it, knowing one day in the future people will be eating from your little apple tree !

I’ve never tried to grow apple seeds, Leslie! I can’t even get an avocado to sprout. is it pretty easy?

Please consider planting a tree or shrub, doesn’t have to be a large plant. Every little bit helps!

I purchased ten trees to be planted in memorial for a lost loved one. Thank you so much for the link.
