Carnival of the Green #144!
By Karina | September 8, 2008
The Carnival of the Green is a weekly blog phenomenon hosted by TreeHugger and hosted by Tiny Choices this week! It travels from blog to blog every Monday, so check out last week’s at Savvy Vegetarian, and look for it next week at Walkable Neighborhoods.
So! Last week, in the green blogosphere:
- Doug Green posts about green garden design, introducing a series of posts using an 8-acre property divided into different segments to illustrate what we can all do with our own garden designs. This new garden is not only organic, but also built and maintained without power tools such as roto-tillers and leaf blowers.
- Over at The Green Routine, Nimic posts about Bats, the natural enemy of the mosquito. A single little brown bat can eat over 1200 mosquitoes in an evening. Learn how to attract bats to control mosquitoes naturally. It’s cheap, and fun!
- Katrina Cain of Were you Wondering answers the question: What is a Carbon Credit?
- Tim Sweetz presents GreenSweetz is Launched! This is a new blog chronicling his family’s quest to go green. Hop over to read about how they uncover new and better ways to do things that will not only save money, but help the environment.
- Beth Terry at Fake Plastic Fish writes about Pure & Natural Soap — advertised as 99% natural, it sounds simple enough. But what about the unnatural 1%? [Sidebar No. 1! Check out Beth’s Tiny Choices Survey over here!]
- Shannon Bullard of the Zeer Blog presents Zeer Green Team Series – What Is Organic Food, Anyway? This is the first in the Zeer Green Team series about organic food, and it explores what’s organic and helps introduce the concept of organics to people just starting to learn about it.
- David at The Good Human posits the question: Oil Prices Heading Up…Should We Be Hoarding Plastic? [Sidebar No. 2! Check out David’s Tiny Choices Survey over here!]
- light52 at Living on Less features a different way to reuse things around the house every Wednesday. This week check out Waste Less Wednesday: Plastic Bags.
- At the Digerati Life, read about how by turning to environmentally friendly cars you’ll save on gas and save the environment.
- JT at the Smarter Wallet posts about 7 Frugal Tips To Clean and Care For Your Clothes — you can Extend the use of your clothing with these tips on how to clean and care for your garments.
- Julena at Organic Makeup and Skin presents a Review of Weleda Skin Food.
- Mrs Green at My Zero Waste tells us what happens when, in the middle of a zero waste week, Mr Green cuts his finger. Find out how she avoided the having only a single plaster in her bin (translation for Americans: band-aid in her trash can) during zero waste week. [Sidebar No. 3! Check out Mrs Green’s Tiny Choices Survey here!]
Thanks for reading this week’s Carnival of the Green! See you next week at Walkable Neighborhoods, and stay a while and get acquainted with us here at Tiny Choices!

I just wanted to add how thrilled we are to be hosting the Carnival of the Green this week! When we signed up to host (over a year ago!) we wondered, will we still be doing this Tiny Choices thing in a year? Apparently the answer is “yes!”
I know! It’s hilarious in retrospect that we were worried we wouldn’t be able to stick it out!
Yay for Carnival of the Green! Thanks for including the Zeer Blog.
Thanks for including my post (and the sidebar about my Tiny Choices!). :-)
