Easy Peasy Tip: Buy Concentrated!

By tinychoices | October 4, 2008

Along the lines of our Buy In Bulk! tip comes this eco-friendly suggestion to buy concentrated items.

If you purchase dish soap, laundry soap, all-purpose soap, household cleaner, or other liquid items, look for ones which are as highly concentrated as possible. This means:

– You’ll have to buy it less frequently, because a little goes a much longer way, and often you can dilute it
– The footprint of the item is smaller due to decreased transportation costs, both on the manufacturer and consumer side
– There’s less trash produced, since each container lasts longer

Jenn recently purchases a 100-load bottle of superconcentrated laundry detergent, and LOVES how long it’s lasting!

Or… make your own laundry detergent. it works just fine.

I’ve been really loving Ecos products lately. They have an enzymatic cleaner and odor remover that is just short of magic. I’ll have to give the detergent a try.
