Easy Peasy Tip: Buy Recycled!

By Jenn (TinyChoices.com) | November 29, 2008

recycledsign.jpgWhen you’ve got a choice between purchasing a Widget made from non-recycled materials or a Widget made from recycled materials, choose the recycled Widget (assuming, of course, that you really need that Widget in the first place).

The more recycled materials that manufacturers use, the less virgin material (wood chopped, plastic produced, metal mined) needs to be created in the first place– which reduces pollution and waste all around.  And the more folks buy recycled products and create consumer demand for them, the more companies will listen and jump on the bandwagon to make them.

When you’re buying items, don’t forget how loud your dollars speak!

Question – why do products manufactured with recycled materials cost more than those made with virgin materials? Case in point – toilet paper – the higher the % of recycled materials, the higher the price. If we go to all the work of saving recyclables, why do we have to pay higher prices for the products made from them?
