DIY Holidays Friday

By Karina | December 12, 2008

popcorngarland.jpgIt’s the holiday season, and I have fond memories of stringing popcorn on thread to hang outside for the birds to eat, or of shellacking pine cones with peanut butter and rolling them in seeds every year. Here’s a collection of some holiday ideas for you this year, just in case you need something to do this weekend!

Do you have any favorite holiday crafts to share?

great tips! I want to make some paper snowflakes using old pages of books or newspapers.

I do have to say, however, I cringed when I read the thing about the pinking shears. Two generations of women have taught me never, ever ever to use fabric scissors to cut paper. My mom would get upset whenever I used them, and I never fully understood why - until now, after having bought my own $35 pair of (nice and sharp!) pinking shears. you can buy zig-zag (and wavy and other design) scissors in the scrapbooking section for around $5.

oh, don’t worry! my gramma is the craftiest of the crafty, and the one who taught me to sew. she definately had paper scissors and cloth shears well seperated.
