Easy Peasy Tip: Repair It!

By tinychoices | January 3, 2009

When something breaks, repair it!  Whether it’s a hole in a coat pocket, a zipper on a sleeping bag, or a bike with broken gears, chances are a fix will be relatively quick and tremendously cheaper than replacing the item.

Our consumer culture has been persuasively convincing us that Broken = Trash…whereas it’s actually much more fun and satisfying to take that broken thing, fix it, and put it back into rotation. Plus, you’ll avoid creating another pollution loop of item manufacture and shipping.

So grab your sewing needle, wrench, and super glue– and get to work!

I really enjoy Tiny Choices. I just can’t wait to open and read it. Great tips and projects that really make sense and enable people to be frugal around the home, office and in life generally. This Fix-It issue is terrific. I have been a tinker’r since a kid (early 50′s) and can’t stand to throw anything out that breaks (or wears out) if anything can be done to repair it myself. A good friend asked me once: “Just what can’t you fix?”
I replied, ” PEOPLE!” Keep up the good work
