Tiny Choices Giveaway: Amikole’s Chocolate Butter
By Jenn | April 9, 2009
We’re so excited that our friends over at Local Labels have teamed up with us for a giveaway! Co-owners Loren Talbot and Jean Tanler tell us their story:
Local Labels believes in supporting our neighbors by making the best of New York City within reach.
The idea came to us while studying to become urban planners and discussing the loss of manufacturing in the city. We noticed a disconnect between existing manufactures and local retailers who were offering “New York” products- from chocolate covered apples to t-shirts and hats- often made out-of-states and overseas. We wanted to start a company that would provide shoppers with a one-stop resource for finding products made in NYC. We were tired of seeing small mom and pop enterprises give way to the big box stores taking over our city. We wanted to see products that truly represented the diverse and vibrant city we live in. Soon after Local Labels was born.
Rock on with your locavore selves!
On to the giveaway: up for grabs is a jar of Amikole’s Chocolate Butter, made on the Lower East Side of Manhattan by Amikole, who is certified organic:
“3.75 oz. Cocoa butter has long been used to moisturize, even skin tone, and diminish scarring. Shea butter is equally valued for its ability to soothe and heal the skin from dryness and inflammation. Amikole’s Chocolate Butter combines the two to create a euphoric blend that will delight the senses with a familiar and comforting aroma.”
To enter, please leave a comment below telling us what your favorite chocolate item is. Bars? Cookies? Hot cocoa? We want to know! The winner will be chosen at random on Thursday 4/16, and must have a U.S. shipping address.

My favorite chocolate item is just a plain old chocolate bar! Maybe with some nuts added in :)
I like things in miniature, so sometimes I just like eating semi-sweet morsels the best. I like to pretend that they’re healthier because they’re “semi-sweet” and small..
creamy, gooey, something chocolate with caramel to soothe the mood
There is a chocolate panini that is to die for.
For me, nothing is better than a nice organic dark chocolate bar. The darker the better.

This time of year? Cadbury Caramel-filled eggs.
My favorite is dark-chocolate covered anything-salty. I usually hate salt/sweet stuff, but I love the salt/chocolate combination. Drool….
hmm, it has to be dark chocolate covered graham crackers from zabars. can someone drop them in the mail to me? :)
p.s. i probably shouldn’t win because i might mistake the lotion for nutella.
My fav: dark chocolate-covered cranberries, or milk chocolate malt balls (like whoppers).
Have to admit, I was a little disappointed when I saw that the giveaway product is not edible. ;)
I just love hot chocolate. I dont eat any actual chocolate candy anything but love sipping on hot cocoa at night or anytime during the fall. Sometimes I brew up some expresso in the mornings and mix it with cocoa too. mmmmmm yummy.

Chocolate covered strawberries, hands down my favorite chocolate item.
My favorite are high-cocoa-content fancy chocolate bars, the kind where you can eat a bite or two and be totally satisfied. Vosges chocolate bars are a personal favorite. But I will very rarely say no to chocolate in any variety. :)
Me, it’s anything dark. The darker the better! :-)

My favorite chocolate item…that’s a tough one. If it’s chocolate I love it. *lol* If I have to choose, I’d say it’s my local icecream parlour’s chocolate hazelnut icecream. Yum.
Wow, that’s a tough choice! I think maybe chocolate covered strawberries. Thanks for the giveaway!
A dark chocolate candy bar is my favorite.
My favorite chocolate items are amazing dark chocolate truffles made by Gail Ambrosius, a local chocolatier!
