I’m sorry. I only come here when I want something. In this case, a snazzy envirosax bag (or 5). I don’t remember whether envirosax or chico bag was deemed the best , but I do love me my envirosaxes. (envirosaxi? envirosex?)

So stylish! I only have huge canvas bags that I lug around when I am running errands. These little cuties would be just the thing to have for carrying my impulse purchases (that I try not to make too many of, but you know how it goes).

Too cute!! I’ve been looking for a reusable bag that is cute enough to carry around! I live in Portland, OR - and walk (or bike) everywhere. I need a bag that I can use when I run errands or go to the farmer’s market! :o)

yes, please! we’re going to be moving in a few weeks, and what better way to celebrate our new home than with a new set of reusable bags? seriously though, we use our canvas bags for groceries all the time, but i’d love to have some of these - they’d be a lot easier to keep with me all the time, since they’re so neatly packaged.

Stacey, they both have their pros and cons - if you want to see a side-by-side, click here: http://lloydandlauren.com/2007/11/17/envirosax-vs-chicobags/

Oh boy, I wish I commented when there wasn’t a chance I could win something. :)
As a broke college student trying to stay cool and green, these stylish bags would be perfect!

I am so encouraged by the number of reusable bags (bought from the grocery store) I see being used at the Trader Joe’s and food co-op I’ve shopped at…but with these bags one can avoid being an advertisement for a grocery store!

I’ve already commented here, but wanted to tell Valerie that it is SO easy to make your own bags. If you have, or have a friend who has a sewing machine, or if you are ambitious enough (and/or desperate enough) these are not even a huge project when sewn by hand, so get out your needle, thread, thimble and scissors (or teeth), go to a yard sale and find something really cheap in a woven fabric, like an old sheet or large piece of clothing for next to nothing. Take it home. Cut it out like you want it to be ~ I would suggest the following. Cut out 2 pieces about 16 x 18 or whatever you like, first put wrong sides together and sew a narrow seam around 3 sides. Then turn wrong side out and sew again right next to the edge of those seams (so that it encases the raw edges and will make your sack really durable.) Next, turn right side out and fold the top down to the inside about 1/4 inch and then again about 1 inch. Sew that firmly in place. Lastly, cut two strips about 2 inches wide and as long as you’d like the handles to be. Place one right side down, fold the raw edges to the center and then fold it in half, lengthwise, of course and stitch it all firmly, then very securely attach the ends of the handles to the inside of the top of your sack being sure to sew it only to the top hem of the bag where it is reinforced. Of course, these handmade bags can be decorated to your heart’s content with whatever you like, sew on, fabric glued on, painted on with fabric paints, drawn on with permanent markers, sequins and buttons taken off other things….. only your imagination will know where it wants to go.

Another thing would be to buy some very large old blue jeans and make sacks out of the legs (cut to appropriate lengths of course, or make bags from the tops of blue jeans. Or other pants, for that matter. Have fun! You might even be able to sell some of these and relieve some of your poverty. :D

I only recently got turned on to this blog but have adored everything I’ve seen here so far. This prize is one example of that. I started using re-usable bags for things like groceries about three years ago. That’s when I gave up my car and needed sometihng easier to carry home from the grocery store than the plastic bags they were offering. Now my city (San Francisco) doesn’t even offer plastic bags in stores and almost everyone is carrying around tote bags. Yay!
