Easy Peasy Tip: Lend!

lend.jpgWe’ve talked previously about the positive environmental impact of borrowing instead of buying… well, the flip side of borrowing is lending!If you’ve got it, lend it out:

You may want to verbally agree on terms as your goods change hands– something along the lines of “I assume this will come back to me in the same condition, and if it doesn’t, do you agree to replace it?” (tailor to your own needs).   You’ll be amazed at how good it feels to see your stuff out and being used in the world, rather than gathering dust in your closet!

Here in Australia, my country-bred in-laws use the phrase “This is a boomerang - it’s gotta come back, ok?”. It’s a nice way of letting it be known that something is a loan, not a gift.
