BetaCup Reboot!

By Karina | March 31, 2010

Hey, remember the BetaCup challenge? We posted about it back in December, and then had a great interview with BetaCup founder Toby a few months ago about his innovative project to come up with a better cup that would replace disposables and be more convenient than the current reusables out there.

We were sad to see that BetaCup didn’t make the threshold on kickstarter to be self-funded, but I am so excited to be able to tell you: BetaCup Marches On! BetaCup announced this month that they are being sponsored by Starbucks to run the contest after all! From the horses’ mouth:

We are especially excited to announce that Starbucks Coffee Company is sponsoring the contest as part of its aim to serve 100 percent of its hand-crafted beverages in reusable or recyclable cups by 2015.

I have two things to say:

  1. Go BetaCup! and
  2. 100% reusable or recyclable cups by 2015? That’s great!

Now my secret plan is to get Toby to let Starbucks know about those locations on the Pennsylvania Turnpike that won’t refill my reusable mug… but I’d be quite happy if y’all would sign up to participate in the challenge! Go through The BetaCup website or shoot directly over to their partner jovoto here. The entry period starts tomorrow! April 1, 2010 at 9 am EST and ends on June 1, 2010 at 5 pm EST, and the rating period runs from the time a concept is first submitted through June 15, 2010 at 5 pm EST. The top prize is $10,000! So put your thinking caps on, Tiny Choosers, and join the challenge!

Will you sign up for the challenge?
