Fall (Spring?) Resolutions!
By Karina | October 7, 2011
The seasons have officially changed in the northeast USA - there was a frost warning last night at Karina’s house! So with the seasons changing, it’s time to shake everything up and choose some new stuff to concentrate on.
Do you have anything you’ve been putting off tackling in the world of eco-choosing? Any secret plans and aspirations you’d like to share for the next few months?
Karina says:
My partner and I are going to try (again!) to not turn on the heater until November. Considering that it’s only 60 deg. F in the house when we wake up in the morning these days, that might be difficult - but we try every year. Last year we made it until the 23rd of October or so.
Also I remembered how much I love knitting! So I’m going to try and use up as much of my yarn stash while making warm warm warm clothes for myself and my family to wear - and avoid shopping for lovely woolens as much as possible.
There’s also the question of a new and more efficient furnace and water heater very shortly down the road…
and once again I find that I have to reestablish that I will no longer use the handy Keurig cups at her office - I tell you: I have SLIPPED. it’s so convenient, and I’ve been so tired that making coffee seems like the best thing to do. But it’s clearly not the BEST choice I could be making!
If you’re in the warming hemisphere and are looking forward to spring and summer, have you got plans to reduce your energy consumption while staying cool?
Does anyone have any big eco-friendly projects around your home starting up?
Post your next-season-goals in the comments!

Seeing as I’m currently living in a place *without heating* it won’t be a problem to not turn the heat on! This means: hats, fingerless gloves, jackets, warm slippers, and funny fleece pajama pants… all the time.
I think my biggest goal is soup-related, as most great goals are: always have a homemade batch of soup in the fridge or freezer. This would equal less eating out/less trash (which is always a challenge for me), a lower food footprint, and saving money, of course. Plus, soup is a good way to warm up while living without indoor heating!
